Steve Sohmer, the former CEO, began preparing taxes at the age of 15 as an apprentice at his father’s tax office. Steve’s father, Mark Sohmer, was a CPA back when returns were handwritten in pencil, rigorously checked, then photocopied for completion. Samantha Sohmer, Steve’s sister who is now a Co-Owner, would often go in and help photocopy and collate the returns beside her father. Fast forward to 2010, Steve and his wife Alice decided to take a giant step forward and open their own tax office, Freedom Tax Service, LLC. Their niece, Carla Mae Pardo, and Steve’s sister, Samantha, soon joined the family business. Freedom Tax Service, LLC expanded in 2019 to create its sister company, Prime Refunds. Their motto: "Prime Tax Refunds" Services include personal and business tax preparation, in person or remote finalization, business formation, notary public, payroll services, 1099 filings for businesses.
